Experience
James Amyx is a Senior Associate at the Law Office of Lawrence W. Hanson, P.C. James has extensive experience in pursuing administrative remedies to client’s trade related issues before U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the port and headquarters levels. James primarily supports clients in responding to CF-28 Requests for Information, CF-29 Notices of Action, and Penalty and Pre-Penalty notices.
Additionally, James provides legal advice on U.S. export control issues under the U.S. Treasury Department, including matters governed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control concerning the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list and international sanctions. James also renders legal advice pertaining to export controls under the Department of Commerce, including the Export Administration Regulations administered by the Bureau of Industry and Security.
James has provided legal guidance to clients on a number of trade related matters such as: Prior Disclosures, Administrative Protests, import and export compliance development, export classification and license determinations, HTSUS tariff classification, Customs value analysis, Country of Origin assessment, Ruling Requests and internal advice requests, trade remedy matters, and currency seizure petitions.
